“电机与拖动基础”课程是把“电机学”和“电力拖动基础”两门课整合为一门课。本教材以电力拖动系统中应用最广泛的电机和电力拖动为重点，从使用的角度介绍交、直流电机、变压器、控制电机的基本结构、工作原理、主要工作特性以及电力拖动系统的运行特性等。
本课程属专业技术基础课，学习过程中要用到《高等数学》、《大学物理》、《威廉希尔官方网站 》等课程的知识。本课程虽是基础课，但又具有专业性质，讲授的内容是电机方面非常具体、实际的问题。因此，课程的特点是理论性强，实践性也强。
本课程的教学目的是，通过课程的学习,使学生掌握常用交、直流电机及变压器的基本结构、工作原理、运行性能和实验方法；了解交直流电力拖动的基础知识，掌握他励直流电动机启动、制动及调速等各种运行状态的静动态特性和参数计算；掌握异步电动机特性分析、启动、制动方法和交流电动机常用调速方法；学会选择电动机容量的方法。
首先，学习中应注意，在实际运行着的电机中，
电、磁、力、热等物理定律同时起作用，互相制约，
分析解决这种复杂问题时，往往需要忽略一些次要矛
盾，抓住主要矛盾加以解决，只要所得结果正确，引
起的误差在允许的范围内，这在工程上是允许的，这
与以前所学课程中解决问题理想化、单一化有很大区
别，学习时需有足够的认识。
其次应注意，本课程的动力用电机包括变压器
及各种电动机等，种类繁多，各具特性，但就其内
部电磁关系耦合过程和机电能量转换关系，仍有其
内在联系。他们的基本工作原理都是建立在电磁感
应定律和电磁力定律基础上的；他们的能量转换都
是以磁场为媒介，其电磁关系可抽象为威廉希尔官方网站 参数，

学习本课过程中常要用到的基本电磁定律有：
