1. INTRODUCTION
Visual inspection is the actual checking of quality attributes for conformance to
specifications by human beings. In traditional inspection processes, a quality control
inspector measured product characteristics after a production operation [1]. So the
performance and decision making of inspectors play a key role in inspection tasks.
However, there are a number of human factors that influence the effectiveness of quality
inspection performance [2,3]. A few of these will be discussed.
2. CAUSES OF INSPECTION ERRORS
The inspection of products as in manufacturing processes is in certain respects
similar to monitoring tasks in that the inspector must continually be on the lookout for
defective items. With each product examined, the inspector must decide if all of the
examined items of specification are met. If any specification item was not met, then the
inspector was supposed to reject the product.
