　　活动度量的量捕获了领域的“多”方面，比如出席AI会议和VC投资到开发AISS系统的初创公司。技术性能指标捕获“多么好”的方面；例如，计算机能够理解图像和证明数学定理。用于收集每个数据集的方法详见附录。

　　前两组数据证实了大家已经认识到的事实：所有的图表都是“正确的”，反映了人工智能的活动和技术进步。在衍生措施部分，我们研究趋势之间的关系。我们还介绍了一个探索性的措施，AI振动指数，结合了学术界和工业界的趋势，以量化AI的活力作为一个领域。

　　当测量人工智能系统的性能时，很自然地需要比较人类的性能。在面向人类层面的表现部分，我们列出了AI系统取得重大进展的显著领域的一系列清单。

　　匹配或超过人类的表现。我们还讨论了比较的困难，并介绍了适当的注意事项。
