    It's a PIC16F1704T-I/ML. PK3 programmer to go was set up back in January with the current version of MPLAB IPE at the time. It has been used off an on since then and the half-programming is known to have happened only once.
 
I get that PK3 is not a "production programmer". That may be enough to close out this post in and of itself. (Programmer to go mode is just so darned handy!)
 
I'm hoping that PK4 may be a better long term solution once it becomes available.
