I'm not sure, but I believe that you just use the broadband loads.
My understanding is that older loads are only rated to a couple of GHz, and were called low band loads, since they were used at low frequencies and the sliding loads at higher frequencies. But improvements in manufacturing mean the fixed loads are now better at higher frequencies and so are called broadband loads. Of course a sliding load, if properly used, will give better results at high frequencies than what a broadband load will.
I have a rather old HP 85052B calibration kit and the loads are marked as low band. That term is used in the manual for the older 85052B cal kits. Those lowband loads are now obsolete and the replacements are broadband loads. In my old 85052B cal kit, the male low band load is part number 85052-60010. If one puts that part number into Agilent's "Find a part", one see it is obsolete and replaced by the 00902-60003. However, that part too is obsolete and replaced by the 00902-60005, which is a current product. That is a broadband load used in current versions of the Agilent 85052B.
That said, the 85050B 7 mm cal kit includes both a low band load (00909-60003) and a broad band load (85050-60006). The return loss of the low band load is specified to be ≥ 52 dΒ from DC to 2 GHz, but the broadband loads have a return loss of ≥ 38 dΒ from DC to 18 GHz. Clearly in the 85050B cal kit, using the low band load under 2 GHz would be better than using the broadband load which is optimised over a wider frequency range.
I'm sure one of the Agilent gurus will shed more light on this, but those are my thoughts anyway.
