top of my head, not used said for a year or two.
 
 
Uart lite, is a basic UART, Tx and Rx registers , with baud rate fixed at compile time.
 
UART is a full 16550 derivative, Tx and Rx registers and fifo, baud rate set by software, lots more  flags as to opperation
 
99.9 % of the time, I find uart lite is more than good enough.
 
I seem to remember there might be a licence differance, but that is very hazzy..........
