  Please reread the scope part number. It's probably an N2795A 1GHz Active probe.

The 80000 series of scopes was discontinued in 2006, and the end of support was 2011. The last SW release was in early 2009. The N2795A was released in late 2010, and the scope SW definitely won't recognize it.

  Thank your for the quick reply, Algoss! Yes, the probe part number is N2795A. I saw a software update (v05.71) dated 2009 at this website. So, is there any way I could work around this issue, save upgrading the scope or using another probe? Maybe some kind of manual configuration?

The probe works on occasion, but only on channel 1 even though the scope never recognizes it.

  You need either a different (older) probe, or a different (newer) scope. The scopes use a serial connection to recognize the probe. If the probe isn't recognized, it won't work.
