Digital Television (DTV) Closed Captioning

This document specifies the standards for Closed Captioning in Digital Television (DTV) technology. This standard
was developed under the auspices of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA, formerly CEMA) Technology &
Standards R4.3 Television Data Systems Subcommittee in parallel with the U.S. Advanced Television Systems
Committee’s (ATSC) and the Advanced Television Grand Alliance's definition, design, and development of the
audio, video and ancillary data processing standard for Advanced Television. The DTV standard developed by the
Grand Alliance and other industry members is represented in ATSC A/53, and the informative document, ATSC
A/54.
